Welcome to The Catoctin High School Baseball Program.

One of Maryland's most consistent programs with 6 Regional Championships in the last 12 years, 4 State Championship appearances, and several All-State and All-League picks. Located minutes from Camp David and Mount St. Mary's University, Catoctin plays in the 2A West Playoff Region and is a member of the CMC conference, which could be considered among the top conferences in the state.

Coach Les Fisher Retires
After 19 year, Coach Les Fisher has retired. Coach Fisher has been instrumental in building our baseball culture here at CHS. Coach helped bring Catoctin it's first Regional, League and State Championships. Helped led CHS to 6 Regional Titles, 3 League Titles, 4 State Championship Games and a State Title. Coach Mike Franklin said, "Coach Fisher was a great coach but he was a better person. Loyalty doesn't even begin to describe him. He bleeds blue and white and has honestly invested a significant portion of his life to helping kids enjoy and earn this great game. He has changed a lot of lives including mine. He is and always will be brother to me. We will all miss him out on the field." Congratulations Coach Fisher and THANK YOU for helping our kids.

Congratulations to the Cougars for winning a very tough league in 2017.   The Cougars took 1st followed by 
2. Middletown(2A State Champs), 3. Walkersville 
and 4. Brunswick.  


Franklin Inducted Into National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall Of Fame
Congratulations to our own Coach Mike Franklin as he was inducted into the National Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in Evansville Indiana. Mike was the 3 time MVP of the Baltimore/Carroll County League, leading the league in Batting Average, Home Runs and RBI's. Mike made media attention by once going 5 for 5 with 5 Home Runs against the Westminster Yard Dogs and was tabbed "King of Swing" by the Carroll County Times. Congratulations Coach! 

Franklin Named 2017 FCA Coach of the Year2017_FCA_Coach_of_Year
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes named Coach Mike Franklin their 2017 Coach of  the Year. " I am completely humbled. I'm far from perfect but never ashamed to admit I am a follower of Christ. We were put here to serve and really, that's what coaching is. I'd like to thank Randy Cole and the committee for this honor."  We are proud of you Coach and thank you for all you do to make our kids better people.

Mike Franklin (20th year) -   Head Coach Mike Franklin has taken the Cougars to a championship level, winning the school's 1st State Championship,  6 Regional Championships in the past 12 years,   3 league titles, the first County Championship   and   4 trips to the State Title game. He was named "Coach of The Year" in 2002 (Frederick Post), 2003 (MVAL), and 2004 (Frederick Post), named to coach the State All-Star game at Camden Yards (2004,2014) and the western MD All-Star game at Hagerstown Suns stadium(2007, 2013). Before arriving at CHS, Mike was an assistant for 1 year at Frederick High and before that coached at Salisbury University winning Regional Championships at both. As a player at local Linganore High, Mike won a League and Regional championship in baseball as well as State titles in football and power-lifting. Mike then attended FCC where he was a Division I All-Junior college selection before playing at Salisbury. As a teacher, Mike maintains his same level. He was named a Maryland Simon McNeely Award winner recognizing him for being one of the best PE Teachers in state. He is the 2013 Lions Club High School Teacher of Year, 2011 CHS Teacher of Year, and was the Frederick County Simon McNeely Teacher of Year in 2016.  

Tyler Ausherman (7th Year) - Tyler is another CHS baseball Alumn who joins the Cougars coaching staff. Coach Ausherman serves as the Cougar's head JV baseball coach. He also serves as our JV pitching coach.  After playing at CHS, Tyler graduated from Salisbury University. Tyler is a tremendous up and coming young coach with a bright future! Tyler is also our CHS Golf Coach and is recognized as one of the best math teachers around. We are really excited to have Tyler back with us!

John Despeaux(6th Year) - John is also a proud former CHS alumni who brings great pride, enthusiasm and positive energy to our program. John serves as our assistant JV coach and our outfield coach as well. We are so blessed to have him back at CHS!!!

Will Delawter(3rd Year) - Will was a former CHS Standout who played in the State Championship his Junior and Senior years with CHS. Will went on to play in the National JuCo World series at Chesapeake and then became a DI-Ping All American at UMBC. Will has been an All Star at every level he has played at. Will is also recognized as an amazing teacher.

Will Warram(3rd Year)- Coach Warram is our Bench and Stat Coach and is a huge asset to our program. When not coaching baseball, Will works in our Special Education department at CHS and is our CHS Swimming Coach in the winter. 

Justin Albright wins State MVP award

 Albright Named MVP at Camden Yards
Justin Albright was honored as a consensus 1st team All State pick and then won the MVP. Justin was among 30 ball players chosen from over 200 Maryland public and private high schools and was honored at a banquet at Camden Yards and then in the Brooks Robinson All-Star game after the Orioles played the Atlanta Braves  Coach Franklin said, "I am so proud of Justin. He is the everything a player should be. He's a gentleman and a scholar. A man of honor, integrity, and he has a tremendous work ethic." Congratulations Justin. you earned it!   Chad Wolfe, Will Delawter, Justus Yocum(MVP), Chris Legore, John West, Pat Sherald, and Mike Irvine are other past members of our program that were selected for this prestigeous game.



Albright Signs with G.W.

Justin Albright has signed a Division I baseball scholarship to George Washington University. Justin is a 4-year Varsity starter for the Cougars, earning All-Conference and All-Area honors multiple times. Justin was selected by the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches as one of the top 30 players in Maryland. Justin ranks among the top in his class academically and plans on majoring in engineering.
